What do Beach anglers do when they see the season end for the chinooks and nothing yet for coho. EASY they go to the river . I lucked out today and had 9 coho on and landed 4. the week end I hear was very busy so perfect for the week days. The salmon lost were fighting in the fast water after fantastic arial displays and bull dogging runs.

Three anglers lost salmon trying to land them by beaching them. I brought the Lucky Strike Bait Rubber salmon net so was able to net them all . Love this net as the hooks don't tangle and they do not remove the protective slime or scales for the salmon your going to release.

Like last year I was using Steelybeads . Pegging the bead 2 inches above the hook with a 2 foot leader.

Of course the major back bone is the Amundson Kudos Strategy casting rod ksc110mh-2, wt 15-25 pound

September 18 and it had rained the night before. All excited for a great day on the flow. Lots of anglers but all spread out and very comfortable. It was a special day for a friend as he has been struggling with Parkinson. He would not let Randy and I wait for him as he got into his gear. I told him when he gets to the beach I will walk him out.

I was really touched as another angler saw him struggling in the water not waiting for me . I was yelling at him to wait for my help. The other angler a stranger to him was closer and came to his side and stood up river breaking the force of the flow. and walked him out as I reached them I thanked him . THERE IS STILL GALLANTRY IN THIS WORLD.

We only got a spring and a very large coho between the three of us. . Turned out the salmon were sneaking up the opposite shore line we were fishing against in about 1 foot of water.

Here is Randy with his proud display

Got to the flow today and surprise very little fish. Lots in the lower pool but not coming up. I lucked out early and landed a coho . That was it though.

Last outing sept 25 was our last . The flow yielded no salmon for anybody on the river . I did put together the Amundson 9 wt 14 foot two hand spey rod . I was amazed how far I could toss the cone head tube flies.

Off course I need practice as my timing was off the odd cast. Can't wait for the first salmon on the rod.
