After some of the largest Algae bloom seen in these water ever. So thick at times, it's kicking out the downriggers and making it difficult to reel in, having to handline a few fish. It has subsided a great deal and the fishing is picking up, with some nice chinooks being boated and lots of line screamers and line breaker. Should be an interest Fishing derby this weekend.

If you are going to be out on the water Father day weekend, be sure to enter the Silva Bay Fishing Derby. It is only $30 a fisher for the 2 day derby. Absolutely fantastic prizes, a 9.9 Yamaha outboard by Parkers Marine, A Lowrance find $3500, donated by Harbour Chandler, Prawn puller by Varton at Ace Linepuller, downriggers from Wholesale Sports and thousands of dollars in other prizes.

Loads of draw prizes and burger included with your entry. Tickets available at in Nanaimo @Harbour Chandler, Gone Fishing, Pacific Net & Twine, and on Gabriola @ Pages Marina, Silva Bay Marina, North Road Sports and from Bob Meyer or Myself.

And I could not sign out without saying a HUGE thanks to Clyde Wicks for his fighting force to round up so many of the great prizes and promoting this in Nanaimo and Vancouver.

See you out this weekend
