Chinook Salmon to 27 lbs GREAT Flood Mid Morning 30 to 60
Coho Salmon to 14 lbs GOOD N/A N/A 20 to 45
Not Targeted: Chum Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon
The Salmon fishing outside and close to the Bamfield Harbor has dramatically picked up since the end of last week. Over the weekend and the first few days of this current week Beale, Wittlestone and down to Bradys Beach and Scotch Bay had some fantastic fishing with Chinook up to the mid twenties and Coho in low teens being landed. There has also been some nice salmon landed down the Bamfield Wall as far as Nanat Island ove the past two days. There are some good bait balls in the area and the salmon that are headed to various West Coast Vanocuver Island Streams, Creeks and Rivers are feeding on these rich food resources before making their journey to various spawning grounds. Currently anchovy on the troll in various teaser heads seems to be the best method for most anglers. Cop Car, Glow Army Truck, Purple Haze and Green Haze are good teaser head choices. Leader lenghts of six feet behind green gold, purple gold, purple mirror, and flashers perhaps of any anglers choice are working well in relatively shallow water. There is a good bite in the early morning and also around tide changes. We are expecting some great fishing in the Sound and the Bamfield Wall through mid September. Call Doug for more information at 250 724 2502. If thinking about fishing opportunities in September or to organize for the 2018 season call soon.
