Not Targeted: Chum Salmon, Coho Salmon, Halibut, Lingcod, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon
There have been a few Feeder Chinook landed in some of the Barkley Sound areas over the past two weeks. There are a lot of under size Chinook and a few up to ten pounds in a few of the more popular areas. Diplock, Pill Point, Sarita, and the back side of Swale Rock have all had a few salmon that have put smiles on the odd anglers face. Anchovy in a Chartreuse and cop car teaser head with six to seven feet of leader have been working very well in deep water. Sunday the 14th of July was a fairly delightful day in the Sound. Morning and afternoon temperatures were relatively warm for a mid winter day. Sarita and the water from Ecole to Pill Point had some good bait balls with a few feeders from seven to ten pounds in the area. Small three inch spoons in cookies and cream and Irish cream also had some good results. The Winter Chinook fishing should pick up as more bait moves into the sound. The herring spawn late in February and March should also help create some better results.
