SPECIES RATING BEST TIDE BEST TIME OF DAY BEST DEPTHS(ft)
Chinook Salmon to 12 lbs GOOD Ebb Mid Morning 150 to 180
Coho Salmon to 6 lbs GREAT N/A N/A 90 to 150
Not Targeted: Chum Salmon, Lingcod, Pink Salmon
Neck point to Icarus has loads of herring bait balls in close and out in the deep, seeing birds and sea lions having a feast out there. The Springs are around and having a good feed on, making it a bit more difficult trying to lure them on our lines. Friends have fished South of Icarus toward Winchelsea and have found a large number of Coho 30 to 40 per trip. They were doing DNA sampling for the fisheries. It was a great sign of a great fishing season when the Coho's opens in May.
With all the bait and Salmon holding, looks to be a great start to the season. Prawns are slowing a bit, they seem to do this when the herring hatch is on, they must follow them in to feed on the eggs.

Till next time ''fish on!!''
