The Sport fishing around Ucluelet is picking up. There have been some nice Chinook landed out on Southbank on those days when the water has been relatively good for sport boats to comfortably fish. It has been the inshore fishing that has actually been the best. Great Bear and Alley have produced some nice fishing up to twelve and fifteen pounds. Sail Rock has had some good fishing. Recently the ''Red Can'' has produced some nice salmon up to fifteen pounds. The fish have been in the mid water down to the bottom. Small spoons in the two and a half to three and a half inch size have been working very well. Irish Cream and Cookies and Cream behind blue and green flashers have worked very terrifically. The last couple of days has seen a remarkable change in the weather and the water with more sport fisher people being able to get out on the water with fantastic weather and water conditions. The inside light has produced a few fish but the area around the ''Red Can'' has actually been by far the best area since Sunday of this Week. The early summer run of fish will be on its way shortly. Reports of good fishing further up the island is an excellent sign as the fish will make there way down the west coast of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet salmon fishing should really pick up over the next couple of weeks. We are looking forward to a relatively good 2018 season.
