Spring 2018 Fish Report and News Letter

Yes you heard correct! June, July and August are Sold Out!

The count down is on for our 2018 season start and wow, what a Summer it will be!! We are 100% full occupancy till the very end of August. Angie and I are excited and looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and of course, welcoming some new ones as well!

We hope you have your 2018 trip details already booked for the West Coast Lodge as we are down to only a couple open boats

August 31st - September 2nd and September 3rd - 5th.

If you are thinking about your next fishing adventure, don't delay and give us a call if you would like to secure one of our last remaining spots!

This fantastic crew from Japan has kicked off our season start in early June for the past 8 years! Very much looking forward to seeing Nori [far left] and Mr. Honda [third from left] again this year.

Well it's finally starting to feel like spring here on Vancouver Island. I’m sure with the amount of complaining we Islanders have been doing about the weather, the rest of Canada and the colder parts of the US are also welcoming this warmer weather. The one thing we can’t complain about is the Salmon fishing over the last couple months! We have been doing Charters around Victoria since the beginning of March and having great success. The Halibut fishing over the last 7 weeks has been a bit slower and inconsistent, however we all know this will surely change as time goes on.

First trip out this Spring here in Victoria with my son Keegan and his best friend Kai and Keith [Kai’s dad who is not shown]. A nice Halibut caught on a mackerel. Good catch boys!

CHEF UPDATE: A few of you may already know but Chef Jason Brimblecombe has made the move back to Ontario to be closer to family and has taken on the job as Head Chef at The Social Bar and Table in Port Hope. We consider ourselves lucky to have had his amazing skill with us for over the past 4 seasons.

With that said, we are excited to welcome, a long-time friend and well-known Victoria Chef, Bill Feltmate who will be heading up the RO kitchen for our 2018 season! Chef Feltmate brings a vast amount of culinary knowledge including over 20 years experience working at a variety of casual and fine dining restaurants.

THE GUIDE TEAM -- -- -- [Insert drum roll please]
N E W to our crew of Fish-Slayers this year, we are excited to have join us...
Kyle Cabbot, Kashes Redfern and Norm Berndtsson [not shown].

This team may be new to RO, but new to fishing our waters, they are not!

Kyle [Bottom right] has been guiding in the Queen Charlottes for over 20 years and ran his own charter outfit for many of them; he has recently moved to the Island that he now calls home.

Kashes [Bottom left] has grown up on the Island and been working on the water since he was legally allowed; he lives and breathes the ocean.

Norm [not shown] has been hunting and fishing all his life and fishing the west coast of our Island for over 10 years now.

Myself [Top left] and Aaron Johnstone [Top right] are the returning RO vets, and from the smack talk we’re getting from the new crew, we’re in for a great year!!!

We have added a 5th boat to the fleet for the coming summer. The 26-foot Pro Line is an awesome fishing machine and will make a great addition!

I R E P E A T …we are SOLD OUT for June, July and August!!

Only a couple boats left for early September, so don't delay! Call now to discuss your next world class fishing adventure.

For those of you already booked… Its time to start getting excited people!! See you soon and let’s stock those freezers!

For more information on our warm west coast hospitality, incredible fishing and stories that last a lifetime, give us a call or drop us a line anytime.

We look forward to hearing from you!
